hip deep in appellate heaven (yeah......)

I haven't had much time for writing for myself, but soon that will change. Appellate brief is due on Monday, whether it's done or not. This thing has been a real bitch, and it got me thinking about the differences between "blue collar" work and "white collar" work.
Half my working life I've spent doing blue collar work; the nice thing about it, is when you get done at the end of the day, you have a couple of beers, or work out, or both (not in that order) and you forget about it. Poof, the stress of the day is gone, because for the most part, the next day is not going to contain the same shit ( and I'm talking about bad days here). Now, lately I've been working at law school training to be some kind of member of a professional class. When I was doing physical work, I thought the mental stuff some of my friends were working at would be a cakewalk.

It's not.

When I'm done at night, mentally, I can't let it go. Sure, I may watch something brainless on tv, play with the boy, (that't my 3 year old son........not my dick) but I can't stop my brain from rolling whatever shit I've been working on around in my soon-to-be full-to-the-top brain. There is no getting away from it. Granted, it helps because alot of the time, something will pop into my head at 5 in the morning, but I keep wondering if there will come a point where my brain will just be full. To the top. I don't know....

Got to get back to that fuckin' brief. Boy, I'll be glad when this thing is done.
